America has seen its ups and downs throughout its relatively short history. Some in this country, including our elected leaders have suggested that we’re on the gradual slide down. I’m finding that I’m not alone in having the opinion that our best years are still yet to come. Our temporary malaise is largely caused by the negative attitudes of a powerful few in the twilight of their influence on the country. These feelings seem to emanate from their belief that as other countries ascend in the influence in the world, it is a foregone conclusion that America’s influence will decline. I believe there is a growing group of people in this country who feel that America’s influence will continue to offer more attractive alternatives in the marketplace of ideas. We are not strong by emulating other countries, we are strong because we have, and will continue to offer opportunity and ideas that not only benefit this country, but the entire world.
